Kildare court: Suspended sentence imposed on man who stole sunglasses from shop

KILDARE VILLAGE

A shoplifter was handed down a suspended custodial sentence at Naas District Court on Thursday, January 12.

In court was William McDonnell, with an address given as Priorswood Road, Clonshaugh, Dublin 17, County Dublin.

The 21-year-old pleaded guilty before Judge Desmond Zaidan for stealing sunglasses worth €150 at a shop in Kildare Village on September 24, 2021.

It was heard that the sunglasses were not recovered.

The judge was told that he has 15 previous convictions.

Mr McDonnell's solicitor, Brian Larkin, told the judge that his client was serving a four-year sentence, with two years suspended, for an assault causing harm offence.

After consideration, Judge Zaidan said that he would impose a ten-month sentence on his client, but added that it would run at the same time as his suspended sentence.
