A well-known Newbridge pub is to be converted into retail and office units.
Planning permission has been granted by Kildare County Council for the new changes at The Curragh Inn on Edward Street.
Existing structures located to the rear of existing property now will be demolished and replaced with a ground, first and second floor extension to the rear of existing property.
The ground floor bar and lounge areas will be converted into retail use, a first floor extension will be converted for retail and office use while the second floor will be the location of an innovation hub.
The project is set to cost over €1m, according to Construction Information Services database.
The Curragh Inn has been well-known throughout the town for many years as a venue for socialising after GAA matches at St Conleth's Park, for music gigs and charity fundraisers.
It was sold to a new owner in November 2020.
All existing features of the original building will be refurbished, according to the planning documents.
