A car was stolen from outside a house while the owner was visiting friends at Christmas.
However gardaí said the 221 KE registered Mazda vehicle was later recovered.
The incident happened in the Simmonstown Manor area of Celbridge on New Year's Eve.
It's understood the key to the vehicle was taken after entry was gained to the property though a back door.
Some jewellery was also taken.
A Garda statement said: "Gardaí are investigating a burglary that is alleged to have occurred at a domestic premises in the Celbridge area, Co. Kildare between the night of Saturday 31st December 2022 and the early hours of Sunday 1st January 2023 in which a number of items were reported as stolen from the residence.
"During the course of this incident a vehicle was also taken from the same property, which was later recovered outside Celbridge.
"There have been no arrests made at this time.
"Investigations are ongoing."
