Aidan Farrelly has been elected to represent the Kildare North constituency.

The Social Democrats candidate was announced as the second deputy to cross the line just before midnight.

He joins James Lawless as a constituency TD and he was voted in with a sizeable chunk of transfers from eliminated Labour Party councillor Angela Feeney.

The counting of votes has now been suspended until tomorrow with three seats remaining to be filled.
