Laoise Lenehan scored Kildare's vital goal against Armagh
Kildare Ladies have advanced to the TG4 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship quaartere-final following an excellent win over Armagh in the Althletic Grounds, Armath, this afternoon.
Kildare won on a final score line of 1-12 to 1-10 and it means they progress, finishing second in Group 3, Meath top the group while Armagh lose out.
The sides were level at 0-6 apiee but Kildare went two clear with points from Laoise Lenehan and Róisín Byrne after 32 minutes.
Midway through the second half Kildare led by one but a goal from Laoise Lenehan put The Lilies in a great position leading 1-9 to 0-8.
Armagh came back however with a goal of their own on 54 minutes when Lauren McConville netted to leave it 1-11 to 1-9.
That was reduced to one before a point from Mia Ryan point gave the visitors a two point lead, a lead they held to the end winning on a final score line of Kildare 1-12 Armagh 1-10.
Kildare are now through to the quarter-finals and they will know their opponents later after the final group games are completed this afternoon.
