A boat rally takes place in West Kildare this weekend.

Organised by the Inland Waterways Association of Ireland, it takes place at Allenwood and Robertstown, two towns which have a long history of association with the canal.

The weekend will start with boats gathering at Allenwood Bridge on Good Friday March 25; the fleet will include an original working barge 118B.

On Easter Saturday afternoon 2-6 a heritage display and talk will be held in Glennon’s Pub in Allenwood.

On Easter Sunday afternoon the fleet will move to Robertstown where events will be held in Weld’s function room (2-6pm).

Members of the public are welcome to drop along to any of the venues.
