Deaths in Laois - December 9, 2016

Bill Moore - Camross

The death took place Thursday, December 8 of Bill Moore of Tirkeenan, Monaghan Town and formerly Camross. 

Peacefully at his residence after a brief illness. Deeply regretted by his wife Winnie, sons Fr Jim, Barry and Christopher, daughters Ethena, Marina and Niamh.

Reposing at his residence until removal on Saturday morning at 11.15 am for 12 noon Mass in St Macartan's Cathedral, Monaghan. Burial afterwards in Calvary Cemetery, Latlurcan, Monaghan.
 

Kathleen Mahon - Clonaslee

The death took place on Wednesday, December 7 of Kathleen (Kit) Mahon (née Barrett) of Sliabh Bloom House, Clonaslee. 

Peacefully at Beaumont Hospital surrounded by her husband and family. Deeply regretted by her husband Brendan and family, Trevor, Fergal, Caroline (Guinan, Blueball) Brenda (Downey) grandchildren Callum, Nathan, Cody, Conor, Katelyn, Jessica, Mollie, Eoghan, and Sadie May, brothers Matt and John,sisters Theresa Feery,(Killeigh) Hetty Dunne (Clonaslee) uncle Tim Barrett (U. K.) aunts Sr. Hetty (U.K.), Bridie Delaney (Killyn) and Kathleen Smith, nieces and nephews, mother-in-law, Susan Mahon (Ballyoran, Ballyboy) sons-in-law Colm and Damien, daughters-in-law, Sabrina and Mary, neighbours relatives and many friends.

Reposing in her home from 8pm on Thursday, recital of the rosary at 9pm. Reposing in her home on Friday from 4pm, recital of the rosary at 9pm. Funeral arriving for 11am Requiem Mass in St. Manman's Church on Saturday morning. Burial afterwards in St. Manman's Cemetery.

Dillis Ruth McGarry - Stradbally and Dublin

The death occurred on Wednesday, December 7 of Dillis Ruth McGarry of Stradbally and formerly Convent Road, Dun Laoghaire, Dublin.

Peacefully in the care of the Matron and staff at Droimnin Nursing Home, Stradbally.

Reposing was at Droimnin Nursing Home on Wednesday, with recital of The Rosary at 7pm Thursday evening. Funeral Mass on Friday morning at 10am in the Sacred Heart Church, Stradbally. Interment afterwards in (St. Fintan's Plot) Deans Grange Cemetery, Dublin.

Patricia Cahill - Dublin and Mountrath

The death took place on Tuesday, December 6 of Patricia Cahill (née Kirwan) of Rathfarnham, Dublin and formerly of  Mountrath. Peacefully at Our Lady’s Hospice of Harold's Cross.

Deeply regretted by her husband Billy, her daughters Nicola and Gina, sons Frank and Gareth, daughters-in-law Amy and Sarah, grandchildren Daniel, Joseph, Charlie, Ella and Emma, sisters Mae, Carmel and Margaret, brothers John, Brendan, Eugene, Michael and David and predeceased by Edward and Liam.

Reposing was at her family home on Wednesday. Funeral arriving at the Church of the Holy Spirit, Ballyroan on Thursday for 11.30am Requiem Mass, followed by interment to Kilmashogue Cemetery. 
 

May Whelan - Rathdowney

The death took place on Monday, December 5of May Whelan (née Carroll) of the Conoboro Road, Rathdowney. 

Peacefully at the Dean Maxwell Nursing Home, Roscrea. Predeceased by her husband Bill and her daughters Ber and Mary. Deeply regretted by her family, Peg, Sammy, Tom Agnes and Betty, sons-in-law, daughter-in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, step-brothers and step-sisters, nephews, nieces, neighbours, relatives and friends.

Reposing at O' Sullivan's Funeral Home, Rathdowney on Tuesday evening. Funeral prayers on Wednesday evening at 7pm followed by removal at 7.30pm to the Church of The Holy Trinity, Rathdowney. Funeral Mass on Thursday at 1pm followed by burial in Bealady Cemetery.

 Judy Kelly - Ballybrophy

The death occurred on Sunday, December 4 of Judy (Johanna) Kelly of Kilcock, Ballybrophy.

Peacefully and surrounded by her family. Deeply regretted by her family, sister Brigid (Dillon, Holycross), brothers Michael (Castletown), Jim (Kilcoke), Paddy (Levitstown) and Tom (Kilcoke), brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, extended family and many friends.

Reposing was at her brother Michael’s residence at Westfield House, Castletown on Monday. Removal to St. Edmund’s Church, Castletown, arriving at 7.30pm on Tuesday. Requiem Mass on Wednesday at 11am, followed by burial in Bealady Cemetery, Rathdowney.

Billy Syms - Cork and Laois

The death took place on Monday, December 6 of Billy Syms of Two-Pot-House, Mallow and late of Laois.

Peacefully at Marymount Hospice, Cork. Husband of Joan (nee Burchill) and father of Gordan, Charmain, Adelina and Estelle, and grandfather of Patrick, Lorcan, Maggie and Annie, brother Sean, sister Peggy, son-in-law Barrie, daughter-in-law Ngoc, brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and a large circle of friends.

 Reposing at O'Keeffe's Funeral Home, Bowling Green, Mallow on Wednesday from 5.30pm to 7pm followed by removal to St. Mary's Church, Mallow. Requiem Mass on Thursday at 12 noon.
 

James Fitzpatrick - Mountrath

The death occurred on Friday, December 2 of James (Jimmy) Fitzpatrick of Clonbarrow, Portlaoise Road, Mountrath. 

At the Midlands Regional Hospital, Portlaoise. Deeply regretted by his brother and sisters, nephews, nieces, extended family, relatives and friends.

Reposing was at Burke's Funeral Home, Mountrath on Saturday evening. Removal took place on Sunday evening to St. Fintan's Church, Mountrath. Funeral Mass on Monday morning at 11am, followed by burial in St. Fintan's Cemetery, Mountrath.

Colm Conroy - Mallow and Clonaslee

The death occurred on Friday, December 2 of Colm Conroy of Cullig Churchtown, Mallow and late of Clonaslee.

Peacefully at Marymount Hospice, Cork. Beloved husband of Delia (née Galvin) and father of Joan, Teresa, Billy, Kevin, Colm and the late Carmel. Deeply regretted by his wife, family, sisters Alice, Mary and Bridgie, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, grandchildren and the late Emma, great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

 Reposing was at O'Keeffe's Funeral Home, Buttevant on Sunday followed by removal to St Nicholas' Church, Churchtown. Requiem Mass on Monday at 2pm followed by burial afterwards in St Brigid's Cemetery.
