RIP: Tributes paid to 'true gentleman' from Kildare who passed recently

The late Ned (Edward) Kelly

Heartfelt tributes have been paid to a Kilcullen, Kildare man who passed recently.

Ned (Edward) Kelly, New Abbey, Kilcullen, Co Kildare passed peacefully at Tipperary University Hospital on March 12 2026.

Ned is the son of the late Joe and Maggie; he is deeply regretted by his loving sisters Elizabeth and Martha, brothers Joe, Pat and John, sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and a large circle of friends.

"May Ned Rest In Peace"

Ned will be reposing at his family home, New Abbey (eircode R56 NT97) on Tuesday March 17 from 2pm until 8pm with prayers at 7.30pm.

The removal will take place from there on Wednesday March 18 to the Church of the Sacred Heart and St Brigid's, Kilcullen arriving for 11am funeral mass which may be viewed on https://mcn.live/Camera/church-of-the-sacred-heart-and-st-brigid-kilcullen

followed by burial in St Brigid's cemetery.

Tributes paid to Ned on RIP.ie include the following:

“Sincere sympathy to the extended Kelly and Farrell families on the sad passing of Ned. May he rest in peace.”

And: “Deepest sympathy to Liz and the Kelly family on the loss of your brother Ned. May he rest in peace.”

While another mourner wrote: “Sincere sympathy to the Kelly Family on the sad passing of Ned. May his gentle soul Rest in peace.”

And another added: “So sad to hear about the passing of Ned. He was a true gentleman & always had time for a chat. Sincere sympathy to all the Kelly family. R.I.P. Ned.”
