Kildare woman 'taken too soon' fondly remembered

A Kildare woman “taken too soon” has been fondly remembered as being “a wonderful colleague” with “a lovely smile and sense of fun.”

Catherine (Kate) Kiely, Newtown, Suncroft, Kildare, passed peacefully in the wonderful care of the staff at St. Brigid's Hospice, The Curragh surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, August 31 last.

Loving daughter of Jim and Kathleen. Sadly missed by her brothers James and Kieran, sister Nicola, sisters-in-law Nicola and Tracy, nephews James, Harry, Kieran and Conor, aunts and uncles, relatives, neighbours, friends and her beloved pet dog Millie.

May Kate rest in peace.

Tributes paid to Catherine on RIP.ie this week include: “My sincere condolences to Catherine's family and friends. Catherine was a wonderful colleague in Coca-Cola , always there to support and with such a friendly and approachable demeanour. I will remember her lovely smile and sense of fun. You are in my thoughts at this very sad time.”

And: “Sorry to hear of the passing of Catherine. Our deepest sympathy to Jim, Kathleen, James, Kieran, Nicola and extended family. May her soul rest in peace.”

While another mourner wrote: “I am so sorry to hear of Catherine's untimely passing. My sincere condolences to her parents & family. I worked with Catherine for many years in Coca-Cola and we had many laughs, she was a lovely person and always in good form. May her gentle soul rest in peace.”

And another added: “I first met Catherine in 1994, when she joined Coca-Cola on a six-month contract, sitting beside me. That six months turned into 27 years - which says it all. Always kind and helpful, Catherine's reporting genius went far beyond the capability of others. She always made time for a few words with colleagues. Taken far too soon, rest in peace gentle lady. Sincere condolences to all the Kiely family. Thinking of you at this very sad time.”
