Gardai are appealing for any information about a Black Kia Rio Saloon car registration number 08-D-24363 which they believe was used in the attack

Gardai have issued an appeal for information about a car which was located in County Kildare the day after it was used in double murder in County Offaly earlier this month.

In an update, they say they continue to investigate all the circumstances surrounding the fatal house fire that occurred at a domestic residence in Castleview Park, Edenderry on the evening of Saturday, December 6.

Four-year-old Tadhg Farrell and his grand-aunt Mary Holt died in the blaze and a murder investigation, led by a Senior Investigating Officer, was subsequently launched.

Tadhg’s grandmother continues to receive hospital treatment for serious burn injuries.

Investigating gardai have now issued a public appeal for any information about a Black Kia Rio Saloon car, registration number 08-D-24363.

They say the two males who carried out the fatal arson attack left the scene in the vehicle, which was subsequently found burnt out in County Kildare.

"This black Kia Rio has been recovered burnt out at Tipper East, Naas, Co Kildare in the early hours of December 7. The Garda investigation team is satisfied that any previous registered owners of this car are not involved in any way with this murderous attack," said a spokesperson.

The garda investigation team say they want to speak with any person who may have any information about any person or persons who had access to the Kia Rio between October 7 and December 7.
They are also appealing to anyone who has any knowledge of the whereabouts or activities of the car from December 1 through to December 7. Anybody with CCTV footage or images of the car in Kildare, Laois, Offaly or surrounding areas are asked to make the footage available.

Any person with information relating to the double murder can contact the investigation team in confidence via the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111.

The investigation team can also be contacted at the incident room at Tullamore garda station on 057 932 7600 or any garda station, in particular Edenderry garda station.
