A member of An Garda Síochána has urged people in County Kildare to be vigilant following the discovery of counterfeit notes in North Kildare.
Commenting on the counterfeit money, a garda spokesperson told the Leinster Leader: "Gardaí received a report of counterfeit notes which were detected at a commercial premises on Mill Street in Maynooth, County Kildare shortly before 7pm on Saturday, March 9, 2024."
"Investigations are ongoing," they added.
Garda Mark Connolly of Celbridge Garda Station also spoke about the matter on KFM Radio earlier today.
He told host Eoin Beatty that the counterfeit notes were made to resemble €50 notes.
Gda Connolly urged the public to remain vigilant as a result, and urged anyone who may come across these counterfeit notes to contact Leixlip Garda Station on (01) 666 7800.
