Stars in their Eyes
The Celbridge St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee have already started their preparation for the 2013 parade and they need to raise funds for items such as safety barriers, street decoration etc. They had a very successful Fancy Dress Party over the Halloween period. Now, in an effort to keep the funds rolling in, the group is organising a show called ‘Stars in their eyes’. This event will be in the Kildrought Lounge on Saturday, January 19 2013 at 8pm.
The show will involve 10 acts dressing up and performing to a live audience the song they normally sing in the shower! The event will be rehearsed for four weeks and makeup and costume help will be available. If you, or someone you know, would like to take part please email the group at firstname.lastname@example.org or call Mick at 087-6266402.
Remember a loved one
A remembrance service and carol singing will take place at St Patrick’s Church on December 9. This is the “Remembering a Loved One at Christmas” event which has been very successful over the last three years. It is very easy to participate. Just place the name of your deceased loved one in an envelope with a 5 euro offering, mark the envelope “Remembering a Loved One at Christmas” and put it in the drop box at Celbridge Credit Union or in the collection basket in the church. Your offering will sponsor a Christmas tree light and will then go to support the work of St Brigid’s Hospice. For more details are available at 087-9903884.

Jigs and Reels
The final of the GAA Club’s Jigs and Reels event took place just over a week ago and after a great night’s entertainment the First Prize winners were Cormac McEvoy and partner Louise Flynn. (James Bond Routine). Second Prize went to Sean O’Regan and partner Jasmine Constantin (Grease) and finally Third Prize was awarded to Sinéad O’ Carroll and partner Glen O’ Dea (Candy Man).
The Club has extended its thanks to Gillian Doyle, local dance teacher, and to all the professional dancers who gave of their time to make this event such a success. Special thanks went to all the dancers who took part and especially to Ann Hughes and her dedicated team, without whom this event would not have happened.

The 2013 calendar being produced by the Celbridge Business Association has recently gone to print and should be ready in good time for the Christmas season. The calendar, featuring an aerial photo of Celbridge on the cover, will not only do what calendars usually do, but will list and highlight local businesses and provide a valuable local reference throughout the coming year.
