Green light for Fairview Cottages renovation in Kildare town

Kildare County Council has given the green light to a renovation project on a number of protected cottages in Kildare town.

The development of the Fairview Cottages is located at Shraud Street / Chapel Lane.

Permission was given to Thomas Waters after further information was supplied to the council by the developer regarding the project including the removal of new residential units to rear of site from overall scheme.

The proposal includes the renovation and extension of the existing protected cottages, numbers 2-12, of Fairview Cottages facing onto Shraud Street including the conservation of external elevations, removal of flat roof sub-standard extensions to be replaced with new single storey extensions to rear of existing cottages and all associated site works.

Five cottages will be demolished and these are numbers 15 to 19.

The planning also includes the construction of two residential blocks consisting of a total of 11 duplex townhouses and five apartments over Block one.

It also includes permission for all associated site works including new vehicular entrance to site, new pedestrian entrance to site, construction of pathway/grass tree lined verge to south boundary of site.

Resurfacing and widening of south boundary lane way is also included, and all associated site works relevant to the proposed development, development site, including all associated car parking and infrastructural services.

Permission was first sought for the project on December 22, 2017.
