Cllr Martin Miley
A local councillor has called in Kildare county council to urgently repair public lighting in the Athy Municipal District area.
Cllr Martin Miley said that public lighting is extremely important for all in the community adding that a total of 35 are in need of repair in Athy.
“At present there is an excess of 35 public light out of order and not working in the town of Athy. With a similar figure out of order in the rest of the municipal district. The explanation by Kildare county council is that the entire light has to be changed to an LED. This is quite energy efficient welcome news but I urge the council and the contractor to move and a greater pace to ensure public lights are working as we enter the winter months.”
