Kildare gardai have confirmed that Monread Road in Naas is now closed due to gas leak close to Ted Johnsons.
The road is closed between the Monread Shopping Centre and the Dublin Road.
Local diversions are in place and the public are asked to avoid the area during the diversions.
Traffic coming from the N7 at the Naas Ball roundabout into the town centre is very heavy as a result.
UPDATE: The road is now open again.
