Some of the challengers with well wishers leaving from Market Square on Tuesday
Lots of well wishers turned out yesterday evening to send off Kildare town’s 23 four peak challengers, who left Market Square at 6pm bound for Kerry.
Their first peak is Kerry’s Carrauntoohil, which they began climbing at 8 am this morning.
All 23 participants will climb one mountain in each province in 4 days starting with Carrauntoohil today (Wednesday), Croagh Patrick tomorrow, Slieve Donard on Friday and Lugnaquilla on Saturday. The peaks are in aid of five local organisation St. Conleth's Day Centre, Monasterevin Day Care Centre for elderly, The Hive, Suncroft Young at Heart and St. Anne’s School, Curragh.
“We have raised nearly €30,00 to date,” said PRO Clodagh O’Toole.
“We are asking people to join with us to climb Lugnaquilla on the final leg of our challenge. Pages Bus will leave Market Square Kildare Town at 8 am on Saturday – €10.00 return. We wish all 23 climbers the Best of Luck and hope they get up and down each mountain safely. You can follow our climbs on Facebook. Thanks to everyone for their support so far.”
