The Kildare Animal Rescue Centre has suspended adoptions until early January, warning that you should never give an animal as a Christmas present.

According to Dan Donoher from the Kildare town based animal rescue centre they have now stopped rehoming their animals until the beginning of January.

“A home is just too busy at this time of year to bring a new animal into our lives and of course you should never give an animal as a present, no matter what time of the year,” he said.

Animals especially puppies need lots of love and attention which can be in short supply over the busy Christmas period. Loving new homes will be found for the animals at the shelter once again when the holiday season is over.

“We are currently looking for more volunteers, “he added. “Our shelter is a busy one and we need more volunteers. We are a 24/7 operation with multiple species. If you would like to get involved, please email us”
