A section of Kildare County Council (KCC) is currently examining the possibility of progressing an Active Travel Permeability link between the R403 Prosperous road and the L1023 Ballinagappa road.
The topic was discussed at the latest Clane-Maynooth Municipal District meeting, which was heard on Friday, April 5 last.
Independent councillor Pádraig McEvoy motioned for KCC 'to engage with the Safe Routes to School programme coordinators to identify opportunities to complete the Outline Delivery Plan (OTP) for Scoil Bhríde Primary School and Scoil Phádraig Primary School, Clane, as a step towards developing a pedestrian and cycle route between the L1023 Ballinagappa Road and R407 Prosperous Road, Clane.'
His motion was seconded by Social Democrats Cllr Aidan Farrelly.
Responding to Cllr McEvoy's motion, KCC said via its report at the meeting: "The Sustainable Transport Section has met recently with An Taisce at the schools on Prosperous road, Clane to prepare the OTP for the Safe Routes to School proposal for the location.”
"As part of this process, are examining the possibility of progressing an Active Travel Permeability link between the R403 Prosperous road and the L1023 Ballinagappa road," KCC added.
