The Limerickman, who is now posted in the South Kildare station, will sing as part of the Three Sopranos Summer Gala tour, featuring Caragh’s own Celine Byrne, along with Regina Nathan and Cara O’Sullivan.

Each of the concerts on their upcoming Three Sopranos Summer Tour, which will take place in the first week of June in Galway, Limerick, Cork and Waterford, will feature a listener from RTE’s John Murray radio show.

The singers were chosen through the programme’s ‘Sing with the Sopranos Search’, singing the popular Neapolitan song O Sole Mio on stage with the three sopranos and the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra.

Sean, originally from Kildimo in Co Limerick and now living in Athy, was one of the talented winners.

He is being coached by Regina Nathan ahead of his stage debut in his native Limerick, at the University Concert Hall, on June 6.

Sean was put forward for the contest by his wife Marie.

The garda is more used to singing songs by Garth Brooks and Christy Moore, but said he was delighted to be selected.

Sean is a keen triathlete and is currently training for Tri Athy on 1 June. He is also manages his local Intermediate hurling team in St Laurence’s.
