Naas actress Evelyn Shaw is to take part in a transatlantic acting project linking actors and writers here and in the USA.
The 24 year old former St. Mary’s College student will take part in a production by The Break-Away Project on Saturday November 16.
Billed as Connecting Creativity, the actors in Dublin and New York, including Evelyn, will perform their pieces to two live audiences in each city via Skype.
The showtime is 3pm in New York and 8pm in Dublin and the Dublin venue is the Centre for Creative Practices, 15 Pembroke Street Lower, D2.
Five actors and five writers were selected in Ireland to take part and the same number were chosen in America with people from either country pairing off.
Evelyn Shaw’s real surname is Purcell which she dropped for acting purposes because an Evelyn Purcell already existed within Equity - the actor’s representative body.
Evelyn is the eldest child of Willie and Cora Purcell of Meadow Court, Naas, and she graduated from Trinity College with a degree in Drama Studies/English Literature.
Her sister Sarah became the first Down Syndrome student to complete the Junior Cert and Leaving Cert at St. Mary’s College.
Tickets cost €8 on www.thebreakawayproject.com.
