Famous artist to speak in Celbridge

ONE of Ireland’s best known artists, Robert Ballagh, will speak at an art sale in Celbridge, in support of Community Solidarity candidate, Brendan Young, writes Henry Bauress.

ONE of Ireland’s best known artists, Robert Ballagh, will speak at an art sale in Celbridge, in support of Community Solidarity candidate, Brendan Young, writes Henry Bauress.

The sale takes place in the Mucky Duck pub on Saturday, 14 December from 1pm to 5pm.

Mr. Ballagh, who has been outspoken in the past on national issues, will speak at 3.00pm.

The unuusal policital fundraising venture is the brainchild of supporters of Celbridge native Brendan Young, who formally announced his decision to run for the Leixlip/Celbridge area in next year’s local elections.

The idea of the sale came from artist, Lara Lawless, a member of the Community Solidarity Group.

Spokespeson, Grainne Lawlor said they were delighted to have Robert Ballagh at event.

Following the initial suggestion, a three pronged approached has been agreed.

First the artists will donate a piece of art to the Community Solidarity campaign.

Secondly, at the event, the artists will talke about their work. Thirdly, they will sell the work at a fraction of its usual price, with the proceeds going to the campaign.
