The all-girl band known as The Hex will be playing a concert on the grounds of a Kildare-based GAA Club as part of RTÉ One's 'An Ghig Mhór' programme.

The premise of RTÉ's upcoming show is to showcase young Irish talent across the country, and to highlight the positives and negatives that come along with hosting an independent concert.

Explaining the upcoming concert, The rock / punk group told the Leinster Leader in a joint statement: "We’re putting on a gig in Leixlip GAA as part of an upcoming RTÉ production."

"It’ll be our biggest gig yet!"

"We can't express enough how excited we are to perform; we are really pulling out all of our best stunts and songs for this one."

The Hex continued: "We were referred to the production team by our music teacher in school and after an audition process, we were, luckily, chosen to star in our own episode.

"We are a four-piece girl band from Leixlip and Lucan who started jamming together in school.

"In the summer of '22, we played our first ever gig, which of course, was a disaster! But after almost two years playing together, we have developed our talent and own sound beyond what we could imagine."

"We are ready to show the world that the future of rock music is The Hex," they concluded.

The band will be supported by Vetocode at the upcoming concert, which will take place on Saturday, May 18.

Doors at 6.30pm.
