LIVE SPORTS dominated the most watched TV programmes of the year, it has been revealed.
Rugby took the top 16 of 20 watched programmes in 2023 according to Virgin Media Television.
The Rugby World Cup match between Ireland and the All Blacks was the most viewed in the tv channels 25-year history.
The quarter final defeat beat viewing numbers of Ireland’s victory over Scotland the week before, which pushed it into the second highest watched programme of the year.
Andy Farrell’s side were also responsible for the third spot, with the Grand Slam win over England in March.
The Aintree Grand National also made the top 10, with this year's record best live TV audience for VMTV.
In terms of reality TV and drama, the season finale of ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! 2023’ came in sixth place, while the first episode of Virgin Media Television’s show ‘The Guards’ is also included on the list.
