Gardaí emphasised that supports are available for those experiencing a mental health crisis
Gardaí based in County Kildare have issued a heartfelt message to coincide with World Suicide Prevention Day 2026 (September 10).
The official An Garda Síochána Kildare page on Facebook announced: “Across Ireland and around the world, this day provides an opportunity to raise awareness, reduce stigma and remind people that help, hope and support are available.
“At An Garda Síochána Kildare, we encourage everyone to take a moment to check in with those around them.
“Ask someone how they are doing; take the time to listen, a simple conversation can make a difference.”
The account added: “You don't need to have all the answers; sometimes, simply being there and letting someone know they are not alone is the most important thing you can do.
“Talk, listen, support [and] reach out.”
