Despite last Sunday’s rain, a dedicated crowd braved the downpour to support the annual Rathangan Clonbullogue Church of Ireland Threshing at Burrell’s field.

“Thanks to everyone who turned out. We had a smaller crowd because of the rain but there was a great atmosphere and a good buzz around the place,” said one of the organisers, Irene Crampton.

The old threshing mill was in operation and along with the vintage car and tractor display, there was a fantastic air of nostalgia. Authentic bacon and cabbage dinners cooked in a skillet were available from the vintage kitchen.

The usual stalls and displays were present. The dog show title was won by Nigel Dunne with his pointer, Fallon.

The auction of Manchester Utd V Liverpool match tickets in aid of the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association was held over. The package, which includes flights, accommodation and match tickets, is worth €900. Bids failed to reach the target so the tickets will be offered at another stage. Funds from the overall event will go towards the parish.
