Recalling the Rising through drama and song

Naas Town Hall saw the sounds and songs of 1916 brought to life again recently.

Mise Eire — 1916 Remembered was the brainchild of well-known Naas actress and director Mona Conroy.

She joined forces with fellow stalwart of the local music and drama scene and musical director Owen C Lynch, to produce a spectacular gala concert.

The show featured a 40 strong mixed choir with members from Naas, Newbridge and Clane Musical Societies, Newbridge Vocal Academy and the Moat Club.

Soloists included leading Irish classical artists Dave Maguire, tenor, and Norah King, mezzo soprano.

Mona's grandson Johnny Randall, who is a student of the Royal Ballet in London, also performed, along with Scoil Rinca Imelda De Brun, local artists and a children's choir. There were also recitations and dramatic performances.
