Kildare's GAA, Paralympic and Olympic sporting heroes were honoured at a recent reception hosted by Kildare Mayor Ivan Keatley in Newbridge Town Hall.
The event was also attended by Cathaoirleach of the Kildare-Newbridge Muncipal District, Councillor Mark Stafford, Ceann Comhairle Seán Ó Fearghail, members of the Oireachtas and members of Kildare County Council.
The Mayor thanked all of the recipients for their commitment to sport and said they were role models for the youth of our county.
Aisling Holton, captain of the All Ireland winning ladies team, concluded the evening as she spoke on behalf of the recipients, thanking the Mayor and Kildare County Council for the presentations saying that it was indeed an honour to be acknowledged by your county.
The recipients were:
The Kildare Ladies Football Team- Leinster and All Ireland Intermediate Champions. The award was accepted by Captain Aisling Holton.
The Kildare Ladies Under 14 Football Team, Leinster and All Ireland Champions. The award was accepted by Captain Aoife Rattigan.
Patrick Monahan, who represented Ireland in the Wheelchair Marathon at the Rio Paralympics 2016.
Sean Baldwin, who represented Ireland at Rifle Shooting at the Rio Paralympics 2016.
Judy Reynolds, who represented Ireland at Rio Olympics 2016. The award was accepted by her parents Joe and Kathleen.
David Oliver Joyce who represented Ireland at Boxing in Rio 2016. The award was accepted by Dom O’Rourke, Athy Boxing Club.
