88 single-occupancy bedrooms, each with its own en-suite bathroom

Plans have been granted for a €13 million extension and redevelopment of Willowbrook Nursing Home at Borahard House, Morristown Upper, Newbridge, Co Kildare.

The project, submitted by Galteemore Developments trading as Willowbrook Nursing Home Ltd, involves the partial demolition of the existing nursing home and the removal of a number of structures and storage facilities at the site.

The development will see the existing building altered and extended with a new part two-storey and part three-storey extension to the sides and rear.

The completed facility will provide 88 single-occupancy bedrooms, each with its own en-suite bathroom.

Residents will have access to a range of new outdoor amenity spaces, including two courtyard gardens, a landscaped ground-level garden and two outdoor terraces at first- and second-floor level.

The proposals also include a new detached single-storey utility or refuse building, a laundry bin area and an auxiliary generator located to the north-east of the extended nursing home.

Changes are also planned for the internal access road and car parking arrangements. The development will provide 29 car parking spaces and two cycle parking facilities with capacity for 20 bicycles.

The overall development has a proposed floor area of approximately 4,208 square metres on a 0.698-hectare site.

CQA Design & Build and Kehoe Architectural Design are listed as architects for the project, with JJ Campbell & Associates and Bruton Consulting Engineers among the consultants involved.
