Local residents have complained about illegal dumping close to an encampment on the Curragh Plains.
Families who walk dogs in the area have been concerned about rubbish in the vicinity in recent days.
Residents said some of the material has been burned and has also been blown over a wider distance by the wind.
Locals said the encampment of several caravans and vehicles arrived in the area in recent days.
