A €15,000 floating home described as an “extraordinary off-grid property” has gone on the market in Galway city, with prospective buyers required to arrange its removal before the end of October.
MV Polaris 152, known as “The Pink Boat”, is a 17-metre vessel currently located at The Long Walk in Galway city centre. The one-bedroom, one-bathroom property has an advertised floor area of 85 square metres and is being offered by private treaty.
According to the listing, the vessel is currently used as highly rated Airbnb accommodation and features a studio-style living space with a double bed, fully fitted kitchen, study area, shower and toilet.
The converted wheelhouse provides a dining area, while a 20-square-metre teak deck is described as weather-tight and enclosed. Additional storage and space for a washing machine are located below deck.
The vessel has a 500-watt solar-electric system, with battery storage and a 5kVA charger/inverter system. The listing states that the Lifepo battery and inverter are not included. Heating is provided by oil, while gas is used for the boiler, cooking and fridge.
Water storage includes a 1,500-litre fresh-water tank with filtered supply and a 2,000-litre holding tank for wastewater.
The seller says the boat has “feet” allowing it to remain upright in tidal areas and can be towed by a suitable fishing boat.
No berth is included, and buyers must have the resources to tow the vessel to their own waterside berth before October 31.
