The area borders on two County Kildare Municipal Districts

A local councillor has called on Kildare County Council (KCC) to alert road users to a 'slow, dangerous junction'.

The appeal was made by Fine Gael Cllr Kevin Duffy at the latest Kildare-Newbridge Municipal District, which took place on Wednesday, September 16, 2026.

During this meeting, he motioned for KCC to ‘install warning signs, [marked] slow dangerous junction’, on both sides of the Newtown Road and Askinraw Lane in Suncroft.’

His motion was seconded by his party colleague, Cllr Tracey O’Dwyer.

In response to his motion, KCC said via the report it presented at the meeting: “The Municipal District Office will assess the location and identify appropriate signage for installation.”

KCC also noted: “Liaison with the Athy Municipal District will also take place as this area borders both municipal districts.”

Cllr Duffy replied by telling KCC that he accepted its report.
