KCC asserted that all surveys ‘will feed into the options for development’ on the site

Kildare County Council (KCC) has released an update relating to an ambitious amenity lands masterplan proposed for South Kildare.

The new information was revealed at the latest Athy Municipal District, which took place on Monday, October 12 last.

Specifically, the matter arose around halfway through this meeting, when the Mayor of the MD, Labour Party councillor Mark Leigh, asked KCC to provide an update on the Ardrew Amenity Lands Masterplan.

In response, KCC said: “Preliminary site analysis and preliminary design continues to progress.

“Topographical site surveys are completed, site investigation / infiltration is underway and ecological baseline surveys and bat surveys have also commenced.”

KCC added: “All surveys will feed into the options for development on this site.”

Furthermore, a representative for KCC, who was also present at the meeting, told Mayor Leigh that KCC still needs to ‘complete the statutory process’ first in relation to the masterplan.

They also said that KCC will start ‘workshopping’ the project in December of this year, with the Part 8 process due to take place sometime in January 2027.
