The Clane Musical and Dramatic Society will be staging its play "Blood Brothers" next week at The Abbey in Clane on September 27 , 28, and 29.
The play is about Mrs Johnston, a struggling single mother of seven. Her employer, Mrs Lyons comes up with the perfect solution for her new problem. At aged seven, we meet Mickey and Edward who become best friends, along with Mickey's neighbour Linda. The three get into trouble with the police when they begin to play pranks. Scared of Edward becoming close to the Johnston family, Mrs Lyons convinces her husband to move the family to the country side.
As teenagers, Mickey and Edward meet again and they rekindle their friendship. Linda and the boys remain close throughout their teenage years. Life is changing for the trio as Mickey takes a dead end job and Eddie goes off to college – but when Eddie comes home for Christmas Linda has some news for him. Some years later their paths cross again, leading to the dramatic, emotional and tragic finale for them, Mrs Johnston and Mrs Lyons.
The play will feature Robert Gallagher as Eddie, Martin Fahy as Mickey, Elaine Moore O'Donohoe as Mrs. Johnston, Sarah Houlihan as Mrs. Lyons, Ruth O'Conor as Linda, Óisín Harrington as the Milkman and Doctor, Sarah Flynn as Policewoman, Aóife Merrins as Kid 1, Jane Lowry as Kid 2, Luke Fahy as kid 3, and Rónán McCabe, Áine Grace, Sarah Flynn as The Narrator.
