Clane Musical and Dramatic Society is all set for the opening night of Funny Girl on April 9 in The Abbey, Clane.
Funny Girl, the musical written specifically for Barbra Streisand (and later produced as the film of the same name) comes to Clane in two weeks time. Tickets are now on sale for the show which will be staged in The Abbey, Clane from April 9 to 13 at 8pm.
Tickets for Tuesday and Wednesday are €15 , and admission for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday is € 18. Tickets on sale in Marron’s Pharmacy or from Anne Noonan at 087 6897376 or talk to any member of the cast.
The show includes some famous and memorable songs such as People, Don’t Rain on my Parade, You are Woman, and His love makes me beautiful. The poignant story of Fanny Brice lives up to it’s title, Funny Girl, and no one suits the part better than Ellen Stapleton whose beautifully musical soprano voice coupled with her mischievous comic timing will have audiences in the palm of her hand.
The suave Nick Arnstein is played by the ever so suave Robert Gallagher, who is making is mark as leading man for the first time. Other well known faces in the production include Edel Marron, Elaine Moore O'Donohoe, Paul Dicker, Val Brennan, Aine Grace, Alan Maleady, Sadie O'Reilly, Brian Patrick Gallagher, Andy Kelly, and many more, including no less than two bevies of beauties collectively known as "Keaney's Dancers" and "the Follies"
Director Arthur McGauran has designed and constructed the set which has been painted fabulously and dressed by Edel Marron. Michael Fay is Musical Director and Choreography is by Grainne Jones assisted by Cian McKeon.
