Gardaí in Naas are investigating this incident

A "substantial amount" of jewellery was stolen from a County Kildare residence, a garda has said.

Garda Maureen Nerney discussed details of the crime when she appeared on a KFM radio programme yesterday morning (October 8 last).

She told host Hannah Kelly that the incident took place at a house located in the Hillford Drive estate in Kill.

During the course of this crime, which occurred between 6.30pm and 8pm on Thursday, October 2 last, around €1,000 worth of jewellery items — two rings and a bracelet — were stolen by the perpetrator(s).

In addition, Gda Nerney said that two males had been seen "acting suspiciously" in the area around the time of the incident.

She concluded by urging anyone with information relating to this incident and / or the two males to contact Naas Garda Station at 045 884 300.

When asked by the Leinster Leader about this crime, a garda spokesperson responded: "Gardaí are investigating a burglary incident of a residential property in Kill, County Kildare on October 2 last that occurred between the hours of 6.30pm and 8pm.

"A number of items were taken from the property."

The spokesperson added: "[The] investigation is ongoing."
