Johne Murphy
Big boost for Newbridge RFC with the news that Johne Murphy will be joining the club's senior coaching team, linking up with Derek Dowling and Ken Moore. It is a major coup for Newbridge as the club pushes for promotion next season from Division 2A of the Leinster League; Johne will also be involved with the Newbridge RFC U20s side.
Johne Murphy has played and coached the last few seasons with Naas during which time they gained promotion to AIL 1B but prior to that spent five seasons with Munster, making 91 appearance, winning a Mangers League title.
The Rathangan native also enjoyed a successful stint with Leicester Tigers. He made the move to England from Lansdowne in 2006 and went on help the Tigers win three Premiership titles. He has also played for the Ireland ‘A’, Wolfhounds.
The highly regarded coach has also been appointed as Head Coach to Newbridge College Senior Cup Squad.
So it is certainly exciting times both for Newbridge RFC and also Newbridge College.
