Kildare: New JTR Swim School opens

Johanna Tilly-Rock

JTR Swim School launched in Spin Activity Centre, Station Road, Newbridge, last week is an exciting new business, with a name that encapsulates the ethos JTR - Just Train Right, is the brainchild of Kildare local Johanna Tilley-Rock.
The passion, determination and drive to make JTR Swim School a success, was evident on launch night with a huge turnout from parents, children and swimmers.
Local swimmer Eoghan Ashe, made an appearance, with a special thanks to Johanna for her dedication to supporting him in his journey to two silver medals at the World Down Syndrome Swimming Cham-
pionships. Also in attendance were Fiona O'Loughlin TD and Joni Harding from Swim Ireland.
It has long been Johanna’s dream to provide a one stop shop for everything swimming and since retiring from the Defence Forces after serving 24 years in The Curragh Camp – that dream has become a reality. What makes Johanna’s vision unique, is that this one stop shop caters for everyone and is endorsed with Swim Ireland’s quality mark.
Johanna says; “The hardest part of all was find-
ing the right pool! Around two years ago I met with Brian Redmond, and little did I know that the Dancing with the Stars judge was the answer I was looking for.
“With the support of Brian and the Redmond family, the owners of the Spin Activity Centre, Station Road, Newbridge, we now have an amazing facility to run this fully inclusive learn to swim programme. Now I will truly live my dream of being able to provide quality and positive swimming experiences whether you are learning to swim, learning to teach or learning to coach.”
JTR Swim School delivers the Swim Ireland Learn to Swim program, with a maximum ratio of six swimmers to one teacher, ensuring more individual time for each child in the class. All abilities are catered for with Learn to Swim, Swim Academy – for those who have mastered the art but want to keep swimming, Primary Schools swimming program, Adult Learn to Swim and inclusive classes for those with disabilities that are capable of attending mainstream lessons, as well as expert discrete provision for those who need a little more support.
What makes this swim school stand out is the specialist provision for individuals with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD), the building allows for the pool hall to be completely shut off from noise and excess sound – which can often be a challenge for those with ASD.
The specialist programme, designed by Johanna and endorsed by Swim Ireland.
A dedicated team of teachers, lifeguards and tutors are passionate about one thing, apart from swimming, and that’s delivering a unique programme to one and all.
Getting everyone swimming, young or old, fast or slow, JTR Swim School are truly committed to have everyone swimming.
