Ruby Walsh has told www.racinguk.com that he won't be riding at next week's Punchestown festival because his leg injury had failed to fully heal up in time.
The Kill native has not raced since he suffered a fall at the Cheltenham Festival.
He told the website: “I went for an X-ray and although the doctor was impressed by the bone growth and repair I won’t be riding at the Punchestown Festival."
He said he had been going to the gym but knew it might not be ready. He had been wearing a cushioned boot to protect his injured leg.
“I tested the water last week by taking off the boot and tried to walk on it but it wasn’t strong enough.
“It is hugely disappointing but I am looking forward to riding once again in the new season.”
