Kildare GAA: Sarsfield pip Moorefield by a point in SFC

Naas defeat Johnstownbridge comfortably

Kildare GAA: Sunday quarters

Following today's championship action the semi-finalists of the Joe Mallon Motors SFC and The Auld Shebeen Athy IFC are finally known and the lin-up as as follows:

SFC semi-final: (1) Celbridge v Sarsfields

SFC semi-final: (2): Athy v Naas

IFC semi-final: (1): Rathangan v Caragh

IFC semi-final: (2) Milltown v Leixlip

Today's (Sunday) games in the SFC saw Naas show their teeth with a comprehensive 21 point defeat of Johnstownbridge. Playing against a near gale in the opening half the champions led 0-8 to 0-5 at the break. On the resumption they took some time before breaking loose hitting no less then 3-11 to Johnstownbridge 0-2.

The second game of the day, local derby between Sarsfieldls and Moorefield which turned out to be a cracking contest with The Sash prevailing in the end by the minimum of margins.

Moorefield, playing with the wind, led at the break 0-6 to 0-2 and extended that by two after 35 minutes but Sarsfields came back and got the decisive score of the game on 39 minutes, Shane Doyle found the Moorefield net.

With seven to go the sides were level; Sarsfields went two clear; Moorefield got it back to one and had a chance in time added on but a 45 against the strong wind was short and while a Moorefield player got a fist to it , went right and wide.

Final score Sarsfields 1-9 Moorefield 0-11.

Relegation final: Two Mile House 1-9 Ballymore Eustace 0-8.
