Former Kildare captain Eoin Doyle has retired from Inter County Football. The Naas man has called it a day on his Kildare career after 12 years of service to the county.

Kildare GAA issued a statement from Chairman Mick Gorman alongside the news said, "On behalf of Kildare GAA, we wish to sincerely thank Eoin Doyle for his outstanding service to Kildare following his decision to step down from Inter County Football.

"Eoin has had a distinguished career, representing his County with honour and distinction, on and off the field of play.

"He has shown incredible commitment, discipline and outstanding leadership skills and has been someone that his follow players have always looked up to.

"His consistent high standards on the field of play have seen him clock up over one hundred competitive appearances in the white jersey.

"Eoin started his Kildare career in 2012 and then went on to captain the team from 2016 to 2019. He also represented Ireland in the International Rules series in 2015 and was nominated for an All-Star Award in 2018.

"We wish Eoin all the very best for the next chapter in his life."
