One of Kildare's greatest dual-stars, Tommy Carew, of Clane and Coill Dubh has been inducted into the Leinster Hurling Hall of Fame.

Tommy made his inter-county debut in October 1965 when lining out in the National Hurling of that year.

No less than fifteen years later Carew's hurling career came to an end when he scored 1-2 as Kildare beat London in the All-Ireland 'B' final.

That game was Tommy's 83rd competitive appearance for the Kildare hurlers, 32 championship games; 49 league, 2 cups racking up a total of 210 points which included no less than 35 goals.

During his illustrious career the Coill Dubh man won four Celtic Crosses, an All-Ireland HC medal in 1969 and two All-Ireland 'B' SHC medals.

Tommy also won a NHL Division 2 medal in 1968-69 scoring 2-3 v Westmeath in the final in Croke Park.
In that same year he scored 1-9 against Wicklow in the IHC final.

Tommy won an All-Ireland U21 medal with Kildare in 1965.
