Kildare's Róisín Byrne has been included in the 45-strong list for the 2023 TG4 Ladies Football All Star awards. Byrne is one of just two inclusions from the Intermediate Championship grade, alongside Clare forward and All-Ireland final opponent Fidelma Marrinan.
Byrne will be unable to repeat the same feat in 2024 after her exceptional displays helped to fire Kildare into next year's Senior Championship with an All-Ireland final win over Clare. Byrne returned from a long-term injury at the start of 2023 and in truth never missed a beat in returning to top form for the Lilywhites. Byrne was Kildare's leading scorer and thoroughly earned her nomination after an outstanding campaign in which she consistently delivered on the biggest of occasions as Kildare picked up all three trophies available to them.
The 2023 TG4 All Star team will be announced at a gala banquet at The Bonnington Dublin Hotel on Saturday, November 18.
In a county by county breakdown, the nominations included, Kerry 13, Dublin 12, Mayo 5, Armagh 3, Cork 3, Donegal 3, Meath 3, Clare 1, Galway 1, Kildare 1.
The 2023 TG4 Junior, Intermediate and Senior Players’ Player of the Year award winners will also be revealed on the night, while the 2023 inductee into the Ladies Gaelic Football Association (LGFA) Hall of Fame will be acknowledged.
