Very like previous performances in many ways, obviously very disappointing not to get a result but we got neither the result or the performance that we would have expected and trained for.

The words of Kildare manager, Glenn Ryan, following Kildare's five point defeat at the hands of Louth on Sunday.
Asked about the lack of confidence and how that can be tackled the manger replied “you start at the basics, we focused very much on the basics this week, we said we would try and strip it all back to what we felt were manageable goals to work on; that's how we approach it but unfortunately there was little evidence of that today.”

The second goal for Louth, just before the break was a big blow?

“It was disappointing to concede just before half-time but there was a lot of other disappointing aspects to our play; from the throw-in really; we are talking about trying to execute our basic skills which we are not doing; if we can execute our basic skills it's going to give us some element of momentum and stop creating chances for the opposition.

"We are going through a slump at the moment that we never really envisaged but no team that has won anything in Gaelic football have won it on purely football ability; it was facing the occasions when they were in a slump or where you had difficulties ahead and overcome them; all the best players and all the best teams do that and every team, any level should be able to do that; it is our intention to get over this.

Asked if he, and his management team, get things right before the final two games, starting on Sunday week against Limerick, the Towers man replied Can you get them right?

“We are going to do everything we can to; I'm confident we will throw everything at it; I'm confident we won't shy away from it; confident that we as a management will do everything that we can to try bring these fellas to the level that they should be at; we are very aware they are not at the level they should be and that has been the intention of everybody but it is where we have ended up; over the last number of weeks we have been very honest with ourselves, nobody is shying away from the position we are in; we just have to keep working and try to turn it around.”

Adding injuries are not the reason we are in the position we are in but we need to man up and start addressing it and ensure it gets better.'
