Keelin Nugent, from Athgarvan, represented Kildare at Miss Ireland in 2018.
Keelin went to primary school in Scoil Bhride, Athgarvan and to boarding school in Presentation Secondary School, Tipperary. Her parents are Stephen and Helen, and she has a brother Matthew and sister Laoise. She is a final year student in Sports Science and Health in DCU. Keelin is big into fitness, and has recently released a 'Glute Guide' ebook.
WHAT IS YOUR FIRST KILDARE MEMORY?
Playing in Donnelly’s Hollow with my younger brother, we loved it there.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE THING ABOUT KILDARE?
I love the Curragh, I think it’s one of the best things about the county. It’s so unique, I’d always go for walks up Braveheart Hill.
WHAT WOULD BE YOUR IDEAL DAY SPENT IN THE COUNTY?
My favorite thing to do when I’m in Kildare is go to the Gym in Monasterevin (I’m good friends with the owners) so I always pop in and then after that sushi in Fujiyama Newbridge (my favourite sushi bar), followed by a movie.
WHAT'S YOUR FAVOURITE RESTAURANT IN KILDARE?
I love Cunningham’s in Kildare or the Ballymore Inn.
CAN YOU TELL ME A BIT ABOUT YOUR NEW BOOK, AND PLANS FOR 2019?
I’m studying Sports Science and Health in DCU so I thought I would put all my knowledge into one ebook (I pestered so many lecturers to proof-read it too, so it would have their stamp of approval).
The ebook includes 19 different workouts including lower body, upper body, abs and cardio! It also includes a lot of theory because I think that it is so important to not just do something but to know WHY you are doing it.
In 2019, I will be competing in my first fitness model show (pure elite) in the junior bikini category. I have my thesis, and fingers crossed that I will release another ebook with all my nutrition tips and healthy recipes!
ANY TIPS FOR SOMEONE WANTING TO GET FIT?
Exercise can be tough and most people can get intimidated by it! Find something you love, because if you’re doing something that someone told you to do and you don’t like it, you won’t stick at it.
All training and nutrition plans should be personalised to your needs. I love weight training but someone else might like swimming. Find what you love and you will see results.
