An online fundraising appeal has been launched to bring home the body of a Kildare woman who died while on a flight to Australia with her family.

Sarah O’Brien, from Lipstown, Narraghmore, Athy, was due to land in Perth last Friday, March 16, on a holiday with her husband John, son David, daughter-in-law Maria and two grandchildren.

However, Mrs O’Brien tragically passed away on the flight before it landed in Perth.

An online fund has been set up to help the family meet repatriation costs for the funeral.

The GoFundMe appeal, established by Australian Brooke Arnot, had, as of Sunday afternoon, raised over €14,000 of its €18,000 target. All money raised will go to the O’Brien family to cover repatriation and funeral costs. Funeral details have yet to be announced.

Mrs O’Brien, nee Humphreys, mother of the late Ciaran, is survived by her husband John, sons John, David, Declan, 10 grandchildren and extended family and friends.
