Grammy nominated singer Gracie Abrams was photographed wearing a pair of Kildare boyfriend’s GAA shorts in a recent Rolling Stone photoshoot.
The US popstar appeared on the cover of Rolling Stone ahead of her upcoming world tour and following the success of her recent album, Daughter from hell. She was wearing white Naomh Conaill GAA shorts from Donegal.
It is understood that Gracie Abrams and Kildare’s beloved Paul Mescal began their romance about two years ago - so why Donegal GAA shorts and not the Lily Whites?
The GAA gear was originally given to Paul Mescal by club local Michéal Chancellor while he was filming the psychological drama God’s Creatures with Emily Watson in Donegal in 2021.
Although Paul himself has previously received lots of attention for making GAA shorts a fashion statement, seeing the American popstar hopping on the trend definitely came as a surprise to many.
The GAA sportwear brand, O’Neills, were even in shock with Gracie’s photoshoot, taking to Instagram saying, “the names keep getting bigger...”
Although an unlikely fashion statement by the Grammy nominee, it’s another win for GAA shorts in the fashion world!
Who knows, maybe Gracie will be spotted in Kildare GAA or Maynooth shorts next time...
