The works should be starting before the end of September 2011, an Athy Area meeting was recently told.
These works will be supervised by the council’s consultant engineers RPS.
Currently, plans are under way to build the long-awaited SDR relief road, including three bridges over the River Barrow, but final phased funding from the Department of Finance has yet to be finalised.
