Rain is due later after a sunny start

It will be bright for a time in Co. Kildare

There will be some brief sunny spells this morning but overall Met Eireann says it will be cloudy with patchy outbreaks of light rain and drizzle in light southeasterly breezes. A spell of persistent rain will develop across southern counties this evening, with winds freshening along the coast here too. Top temperatures 10 to 14 degrees Celsius, best values through Connacht and the mid-west.

Rain will gradually extend countrywide tonight with some heavier bursts across Leinster and Munster. Lowest temperatures 3 to 7 degrees Celsius, in moderate easterly breezes, fresh near coasts.
