Text messaging system needed to protect Naas disabled parking spaces

Naas

Motorists who park on disabled parking bays in the Naas area could be reported by members of the public using a text messaging system.

The Naas Access Disability Group has campaigned against the misuse of the parking bays in Naas town centre.

And they have staged a number of protests in the town carrying placards bearing messages like “What's Your Excuse ?” - a reference to the fact that most offenders have  an excuse for parking where they shouldn't which often is “I was only there for a few minutes.”

Now Cllr Darren Scully wants Kildare County Council to  erect text alert signs on all disabled parking bays in the Naas Municipal District to report misuse.

He has asked the council to put up a sign at every disabled parking bay in the town.
