Former McDonald's restaurant in Naas is being renovated

101 Gastro Grill at Main Street, Naas

Renovation work is taking place at the former McDonald’s restaurant at North Main Street, Naas.

The premises has been styled 101 Gastro Grill since mid-2018

It was reported at the time that it would be run by husband and wife team Peter and Sabrina Macari, who operate the Rustic Italian restaurant and bar, also in Naas.

It was intended there would be 15 to 20 people, including part time staff, working there.

The new eatery was scheduled to open towards the end of last year.

The Macari family also run Alvito’s and Da Vinci’s  restaurants in Leixlip as well as the Macari 101 chipper in Monread and they have a long association with the restaurant and food business in County Kildare.

The family's Da Vinci’s restaurant in Leixlip celebrated its 25th anniversary in September.

Mr Macari said at the time that 101 Grill would have the same setting and tone as Rustic with an emphasis on art deco (a decor style popular in the 1930s).

McDonald’s closed almost two years ago, having opened in 1998.
